Mrs. Nelson
Mrs. Powell
Welcome to Room 126! I’m Mary Powell and I am so thrilled to begin my 24th year of teaching, my 8th year at Van Hise, and feel fortunate to be a member of the wonderful 3rd grade teaching team. My husband and I have three boys: a 10th grader at West High School and twins who are fourth graders at Randall. Besides my family, a few of my passions are bicycling, reading, traveling, knitting, gardening and cooking. We had a lot of fun with family visiting us throughout the summer, and since we our putting the finishing touches on our basement remodel, I anticipate our boys will have friends over...a lot! A couple of good books that I read this summer about amazing kids are, All The Light We Cannot See, and Wonder. I’m excited to be working with new students at Van Hise Elementary, and am anticipating a fantastic year!

Hello families! My name is Jessica Gamez and I'm excited to start my first year teaching at Van Hise! This will be my fifth year teaching in the district. I spent my first year teaching in Mexico. I bought my first house this summer! I have enjoyed doing DIY projects and making it our home. I love to go to the farmer's market, cook, go on bike rides and read.
